Kilta is a young artist born and raised in western North Carolina. His fascination for architecture and interior design led him to begin work on homeware, adopting the 1950s post-war movement brutalism with elements of minimalism and wabi sabi. Kilta embraces the inherent character of concrete, glass, timber, and other raw materials rather than concealing them. His Neo-Brutalist work explores the tension between severity and warmth, creating objects that exist somewhere between sculpture, architecture, and functional design.
βI believe in the embrace of intensity, to regard harsh emotion is to accept reality, while my creations may embody this, they are vessels that are hollow, void of life and emotion until they are filled by the warmth and energy of the space you provide. They are a number until given a name.β
